This year I used Simple Schooling First Course in American History with my 4th - 7th grade boys and they enjoyed learning about the individuals that have helped in shaping America.

Everything you need is right there. No searching for books that support the lessons or scouring the internet to find suggested resources. It can be used as a stand alone curriculum or as a supplement. Either way, I recommend you give it a try.

We recently purchased the Bugs unit studies through Currclick, and we've been having a blast learning about bugs. I have a 4 yr old girl who loves learning new vocabulary and lists of information and your unit studies are great for her. We work through the comprehension section together and she using the writing practice worksheets during her penmanship time. Simple School units are everything you need to learn a topic or subject completely and in a fun and unique way! Little to no additional preparation is needed as each unit is very informative and comes with activities and worksheets for making learning fun and easy to remember! Ever since learning about Simple School, I have used the various studies in our homeschooling program. It is greatly appreciated that for little to no charge that I have ready to learn resources at hand. Our son really enjoys seeing what comes next and really gets excited when finding out we are going to do another unit study from Simple School!

I have used the Anatomy & Physiology materials from Simple Schooling as a great review for me before teaching my elementary schoolers. What's wonderful about these materials is that they are complete enough to use alone and the graphics make them very engaging. The kids love looking through them and reading them and completing the activities. It really is Simple Schooling!

We have used several of Simple Schooling's products to teach our son about so many things! Especially useful to us has been several of their Nature Studies, we used them in our science to learn about habitats which has been very helpful in explaining to our son about forests, oceans, and the arctic circle more clearly. Also, if you are teaching US Geography, their 50 States in 50 days is very helpful. There is a really good map that we color code with each state and for our final activity, we talk about something we would like to visit in each state. Another Simple Schooling product that has been extremely helpful is the Revolutionary Patriots, although our son has problems understanding the study of history at this point, he found this product interesting. We read it together more as a reading assignment than a history assignment but I look forward to using it next year again but for history. Lastly, Simple Schooling has some really fun product we have used just for the fun of it! Their "Old Fashioned Deck the Halls Craft Pack" and "Christmas Fun Book" contains so many fun activities we enjoyed doing together. Thanks for all the help Simple Schooling!

In February, I was searching the internet for printables to use with my son, as I do for every holiday! (I homeschool). I remembered that I was able to get the Simple Schooling Valentine's Day book for free, and it was all that I needed. I didn't have to go to 4 or 5 websites to print worksheets, stories, etc. The SS Valentine's Day book provided all of that for us! Looking forward to using more of the unit studies next school year.

My kids have been using the online interactive unit studies since around the holidays. It's one of the few "educational" activities that I can get both kids 12 and 9 to work on together. I love that the units are read aloud so I don't have to read the whole unit to my struggling nine year old.

I started using simple schooling unit studies to help my daughters with science. The curriculum that we had purchased for science was not working for us this year and I went looking for an alternative. I found simple schooling's free unit studies and loved doing them with my girls. We have done the unit study Penguins and Winter Survival Techniques and had a blast doing them. We could go on little rabbit trails with them and leaned a lot. My oldest daughter has since been "teaching" many family members about the different winter survival techniques that animals have. I love your product it has truly changed our homeschool for the better by helping us with science topics and having lots of information packed in each unit study. We recently purchased LET'S LEARN ABOUT BUGS Unit Study and it has been a blast so far! The kids and I sit, read, draw and learn about different kinds of bugs and then go out to find them in the yard. I've enjoyed watching them go from squealing when they see a bug to asking questions and observing it. It's so much fun watching them go from blah to ahh about bugs!! I am just getting ready to start homeschooling, and came across the 12 days of freebies. My children (5 and 7) did the Story of St. Nicholas interactive freebie tonight. It was great to see them excited about the hidden picture and word search exercises. The best part was when my 5 year old exclaimed (after he found the a word) "This is fun!". I loved the bears of north america unit study. I was hesitant to open at first. I thought it would be too difficult for my 3yr. But I sat with him on my lap and he was riveted. He sat for the whole study- something that is hard for him to do. He loved it and still talks about it daily. And we studied it last week! He really liked to link to the sounds the bears make. And I was amazed of how much he retained.

We have really enjoyed the unit studies in our homeschool. My preschooler loves the Beatrix Potter stories, my fourth grader the Oceans lessons, and my seventh grader the autonomy of doing some lessons on her own. I like that sciences are challenging (we also are doing Middle School Physics this year) while still being interesting enough to keep their attention. On days when I need something extra, I feel comfortable allowing my kids to just pick something that interests them from their age-appropriate sequence list.

We have used or are using history(Egypt, Rome, and American history) Science(life-cycles, rocks and minerals and cats)
Each topic is broken down into a few pages that tell in simple language that we all understand. Then My children love to look in the books we have from the library or on our selves see if the information is true and get more details.(I love how acurate the work is we haven't found anything yet!!!) This works for my 3 year old all the way to my 3rd grader then we notebook are page and off we go. Thank you for a great product that works for our homeschool

New Website Features

This is our first year using Simple Schooling and we have bee nothing but pleased. We are doing the one year Nature Study and my dd (6) just loves it. The interactive features and embedded extras and videos are great. We love doing the suggested activities and learning about nature. The interactive features of the online course is very easy to use for my daughter and she enjoys the course very much.
We have also used several of the unit studies and freebies and have never been disappointed. Simple Schooling is just great. We look forward to incorporating more into our curriculum next year.

I have really been impressed with the unit studies which can be used for science and nature study, such as the Migration one, and the Bears of North America. I love Unit studies and my son love the computer, and I had never imagined combining these two methods, but Simple Schooling has done it. At first I was a little doubtful that I'd be happy with what was covered. But wow, such a lot more than I expected was covered. Even my son, who reads a lot of nature books, would learn a lot of new facts here. The graphics were good, and useful for learning, and pictures of good quality. We recently had to look up about caribou for our one curriculum, and were unable to find any facts about their migrations- we learned more about Caribou from this unit study than we did in the encyclopedia. And not just the common migrating species were covered, butterflies and even African animals were covered.
The tabs for navigation on the left are simple to use and the player downloaded quickly, with no hassles.
I that the study has enough interest for the young learner, but would be a good learning experience, not like a useless game. The audio portion would assist the student that struggles with reading, but the text on each page was not overloaded.
If I could add anything, it would be a pop-up vocabulary box when you hover over the vocabulary words in the text.
In all, I am very impressed with this product. I love the idea of hands on unit studies, but of course there are times one cannot do them, and I can see these being very useful then. Also, for a resource in stead of purchasing books or endless trips to the library, these units would cover it all.

We first discovered Simple Schooling at the start of second grade and loved the unit studies and Simple Days freebies they were lots of fun and made planning a science curriculum a lot easier. We love the interactive units and have used a variety from the K-6 subscription and the literature guide subscription. We also use and really enjoy the American History curriculum it makes teaching history simple and fun.

We have done probably at least 20 of the unit studies. We like them because they give you lots of information, but not so much that it gets boring. You can't beat the price and many times they offered free. I am our homeschool director and I tell many families about this site.

Just wanted to let you know that I have radically changed our homeschooling since I have tried the 12 Days of Christmas Freebies!!! I am a homeschooling mom of 2 boys aged 10 and 7. I and my husband have both had major health problems this year. I also have fibromyalgia. Loss of work has made our homeschooling budget dissapear, not to mention the lack of energy and clear focus needed to do Science. A friend posted a link to your site on Facebook and I went to your site. I bought the Astronomy Unit for $5.00 to supplement Apologia Astronomy, and began using the free Migrations Interactive unit with my 7 year old. My kids got so excited each day when I checked my email, they couldn't wait to see what new freebie we would get. They now ask to do "Simple Schooling" on the weekends. They are getting a great Science curriculum and I have time to plan and focus on other subjects. I do not worry anymore about them not getting a good science education. I know that they will!!!!! I plan on purchasing K-12 asap and using it as my main science curriculum from now on.

Last spring was a first time for our family to preview several units during an Open House. My kids were very happy with offered materials and did a lot of studies during summer months. My 3 years old son liked Bug and Literature units, especially if they had puzzles. Being very young he is an audio/visual learner. I just love love love Simple Schooling Unit Studies. There is no preparation necessary for the most part except for printing the units if you choose to do that. I feel a sense of accomplishment as the completed unit studies start to pile up. I keep them all in separate binders for each child so that my children can see how much work they have done. I think our binders will likely become keepsakes as they get older (7, 7 and 3 right now). A bonus is that the unit studies can 'grow' with your child as they grow and add items to the unit study as they learn more. The scope of topics is also very helpful.

We've been looking at your freebies for a long time, and also made use of some "open houses" you offered....with money being tight and my daughters interests just skipping all over the place, I was very reluctant to spend money on any curriculum at all. But: we love it. I let her choose a topic each week or so, and she does them almost independently, all it takes is a gentle reminder. Thank you for your 12 Days of Freebies. I very much appreciate the 'around' 6 weeks (varies according to the day) of access to the interactive studies, and the timeliness of the themes. Christmas, winter, arctic, all appropriate at this time of the year! My boys enjoy the interactive lessons, with two of them reading through everything (even if I only 'assigned' a certain number of pages per day), and one (although he still reads the study, lol) skipping ahead to the puzzle. How wonderful to have these Freebies! December can be such a crazy month and it has been so nice to have some school related things my kids can't wait to do that they are able to do on their own while I am busy preparing for being gone for 2 weeks! What is wonderful is our Children's Museum here in Indy has a Polar Bears and Penguins special exhibit that went along so well with the Arctic Units. I signed up for the 12 Days of Freebies from Simple Schooling. I had never tried any of their products, but with a very tight homeschool budget I always check out things I can get for free. Two of the items we received that were free were Arctic Animals and Arctic Circle.

My 2nd grader was able to sit at the computer and do the study on her own. That has been one of my favorite parts. Lately, with an active toddler it's been very hard to have our "regular" school days. And since it's December I had decided that all our schooing for this month would be focused on Winter Christmas activities and studies.

I was quite surprised with the amount of content in each of these studies. They were very thorough. I also like that they are read to the student. My daughter is able to read, but having the page read to her allows her to follow along. It would also allow out other daughter who is only in kindergarten to come in and listen and still have some learning.

The interactive activities at the end are awesome. My daughter has liked all of them. She told me that doing the vocabulary quiz and the picture puzzles have been her favorite.

I am grateful to have been a part of the 12 Days of Freebies. I also plan on setting aside some of next year's budget for studies to correspond with our regular school to supplement learning or enhance learning. Thank you Simple Schooling!

My son loved the arctic animals and arctic circle interactive units. As a dyslexic child, he is often frustrated when he tries to learn new things and has difficulty with the words. With these units, he heard the facts read to him and was able to follow along. He was spouting facts about the arctic for days after he finished the units and was so proud of his certificates.

The Freebies have been wonderful to have. My children 8 and 6 watched the Nativity unit this morning and it has inspired them to create their own play complete with script and costumes for our family to perform when we travel back home over Christmas. It is exciting for me to see them so excited.

My daughter loved the freebees! She is in grade 3, but everyday when she got home from school she asked if there was a new lesson for her to do. She enjoyed learning about arctic animals and Christmas Carols, singing along to the familiar tunes. At the end of a unit she would do all of the activities, saying: Yay, games!
And when she got to print off the certificate it made her feel so proud!
The units are thought through, very well balanced and simply fun.

This is our second year homeschooling and our second year using Simple Schooling units for science and fun. We've enjoyed the Christmas freebies both years, my daughter can hardly wait for the email to come each day. We just started using the literature units and she loved being able to work through them at her own pace as she read the Percy Jackson series.

My 11 year-old dd and I completed our first Simple Schooling Freebie today and loved it. The unit was on gardening, and we chose the interactive version. I came across Simple Schooling through a newsletter - was intrigued by it and signed up for the newsletter. My children have enjoyed the interactive studies - my little 5yo was working on the Bees unit and loved it (although it was a bit hard for her with the reading parts on the quiz...I didn't notice the sound button until later). I like the audio and the interactive sections. My high schoolers are looking fwd to the Forensics studies and the Horse units.

We are new to homeschooling and I found this website just browsing through homeschool sites one day. I downloaded and printed out the Spring freebie Unit Study. I honestly didn't think it would be that informative, just thought it would be "fun facts" type of thing. All my children (ages 4 - 10) LOVED this study! I also didn't think my 4 year old daughter could do the study with her 3rd and 4th grade brothers, but she sat right there with us and enjoyed every minute of it! We tried the simple schooling freebie Great Explorers. It was great although my kids kept trying to make it hard, lol. It was easy for them to do and I think they really enjoyed it. I liked that vocab was included and that the children had to look up the definitions. The reading wasn't to heavy but covered everything they needed to know. The time line though short was a very nice addition I have not seen any of the other programs we have tried.

My two 7th graders recently finished Middle School Physics I. It was a really great course. I found it very easy to implement and feel my kids learned a great deal about Physics. I got the refferal to Simple Schooling from another homeschooling friend. We were looking for Horse Unit Study to use for our book club activity. I wanted to buy it but the particular unit study is not available to purchase individually. I have to pay for the whole thing. So I checked out the freebies, and my kids just absolutely LOVED it! They learned about BEES and JELLYFISH in a few minutes and right afterwards they ran out to draw pictures of the life cycles just like the ones on the site. I love the enthusiasm and independence that the site provide. My kids also love the way the voice read to them, they said it sounded like mine..lol

This is a good unit study for both of my boys who ages 7 and 4. It is simple to use and they learn a lot from it. We are doing insect study this month and this unit study just fit our learning perfectly.

1st: I Love the New Site Layout & coloring -- so easy on the eyes & easy to navigate.

2nd: The unit studies are great. I really appreciate how they hit the high points & leave so much room for personalizing -- gearing down or ramping up --to fit the needs of the student, teacher, or even a "bad hair" day. These are also great for "throw down" units if someone else has to pinch hit or one has to travel.

Simple Schooling Freebies

So far we've only done a few units. OH, MY! They are fantastic. The information, I thought, was a bit over my 3rd grade daughter's head, but I was wrong! The way it was presented was perfect. She could narrate back to her Dad so much of what she read that we were stunned!

I later had her notebook a page to keep a record in her file and the drawings and information were more detailed than I expected of her. I know it was the presentation that helped her remember it all.

the freebies from Nov. and December were great --- I don't mean to say they aren't ALL great--- just that the freebies for those 2 months provided great resources of information and many rabbit trail opportunities that filled up the space between Thanksgiving week though new years

We love the freebies and are looking forward to the online unit studies. The freebies are great fill ins and I like that there is something for all grade levels. I can use them with my preschooler and my middle schooler. My oldest is in public school and I even found him doing the Forensic Science freebie and asking why his school didn't have a class like that. Keep up the great work and thanks for all you do.

Simple Schooling Unit Studies

After spending hours on a search engine.. looking, hoping praying for a better way to school... I dont know how but i stumbled onto this site... and all I can say is Awesome. My kids get on first thing and spend hours on this not because of boredom but because the pleasure it is for them to get away from bookwork and absorb themselves into your unit studies. It is a blessing to have found simple schooling and I let all my friends know how much it is worth and the cost is so worth it! thanks so much for creating this site... I no longer stress about Science anymore! woo hoo!

Middle School Physics

My dd used this middle school physics last year and loved it. It was easy for her to follow and work through independently. We were impressed with the content and links. It was a good introduction to Physics.

Simple Schooling Freebies

In trying to determine if I would be able to teach my children at home, I have found the information invaluable that has been in the Freebies on this site. I am gathering information and lessons in order to create an eclectic home schooling environment. I will be subscribing to this resource to help me with my bright third grader. I feel the information is presented in a way she will be able to handle on her own in some cases, and as a group with other topics.

Simple Schooling has simplified my school schedule. I am able to focus more of my teacher prep on other subjects when I know that when the kids are doing 'Simple School' the subject is covered in an engaging visual manner. Thanks Simple School.

Middle School Physics

Middle school Physics has been interesting and I have been quite pleased with it. I was hoping to have both boys do this program but it is a bit much for Dutch (4th grade) although he was willing to listen in. We stopped in the middle because I (of course) bought a new curriculum that was a unit study that included science. However we will be starting back up again this week as the unit study is going over astronomy and Jazz has already done that, so I will have the boys seperate for science.

Stuff I like:
Jasper enjoyed what we did so far, and has even applied some of this knowledge in casual conversation. (actually, so has Dutch, so I guess when he is listening he is retaining some too.)

I like how it is set up and having the teacher guide and lab books are handy. I love that it is on the computer and doesn't take up space on my already crowded bookshelves. (one of my favorite things about all the simple schooling stuff)

The websites and video links embedded are lovely. I know they will deteriorate in time...but I do like having them in there.

J. Annes writing is amusing. The boys liked reading examples starring "your crazy mother" turning donuts in the parking lot. She made us laugh out loud and not many physics texts will do that!!

A couple of things I wasn't crazy about:
I wish the lab assignments were IN the regular book...I am bad about going through it ahead of time and we missed them fairly regularly. I also didn't feel like the lab assignments were as specifically related to the lessons as I would have liked.
It would also be handy to have imbedded links to the teachers manual in the text (or maybe vice versa) so that I didn't have to click back and forth on them for planning. (cuz I already confessed I don't do that so much.)

All in all I am pleased with the price and scope of this curriculum...I will update this as we finish.

Simple Schooling Unit Studies

We love the unit studies. They make our day go by so fast! The kids really enjoy doing them and it gives me time to get organized for the next day. Thank you!

The Simple Schooling Classroom Unit Studies are a wonderful addition to our curriculum. They are a great fill in when life is in the middle of "happening" and the kids still need to get some schooling in. The kids love working on the computer, and I can have 5 free minutes to get done whatever may have demanded my attention at that moment. Thanks for making my days run more smoothly.

Entertaining and Educational! How could you lose? I homeschool 2 elementary aged boys. One boy does an interactive unit study, and the other works with Mom on something he needs help with. They enjoy the science studies so much, I almost have to force them away from them.

They are learning so much and when visiting grandparents they'll let them know what they are learning. Plus it's super cool because it's on the computer. Because of the boys telling Nana what they are learning, she no longer complains about the boys being on the computer to do "school" work.

It's great! Thanks so much for making such awesome educational studies for our children!!!

I have never bought a curriculum for our homeschool. I spend hours looking for and putting together lesson plans.

We have used your freebies forever and just became members to the Unit Studies about 2 months ago. They are the favorite part of my daughter's day. I love how easy it is and we both love the information and the interactive studies. I believe this is the future of homeschooling!
